Child & Youth Fall Overnight Camp 2025

Posted on by Cassandra Chan

BigRock Aikikai's fall overnight camp for the child and youth classes will be taking place on October 18th to 19th, led by the senior instructional team.

Exciting news! We will be having a FALL OVERNIGHT CAMP for the child and youth classes on the weekend of October 18th to 19th. This is an incredibly special event, focused on intense test prep training and strengthening dojo camaraderie through our exhilarating camp games. We truly hope to have as many participants as possible to make this camp a night to remember. The registration link can be found HERE

The dojo hasn't had overnight camps throughout the school year in a long time, but considering how our fall, winter, and spring camps were always thoroughly enjoyed in the past, while also advancing students towards their next level and building long lasting friendships among the different ranks, we've decided that this is the year to bring them back. Many of the senior instructors have found that these pop up overnight camps during the school year made up some of their best dojo memories, from helping to build their character to connecting with their peers in a special way that only overnight camps facilitate.

Speaking of the senior teachers, this overnight camp will be entirely run by ITP! While Steve Sensei won't be physically present, Cassie, Lauryn, and Josie will be the acting leaders and responsible adults for this camp. Their years of camp instructor experience will make this event all the more smooth and fun, and they are thrilled to be putting this event into action.

The schedule will look like the following:

Oct 18th
5:30-6:00 - drop off
6:00-9:00 - intensive test prep training
9:00-10:00 - pizza dinner
10:00-12:00 - camp games!!
12:00 and onward - movie & sleep

Oct 19th
7:30-8:00 - wake up
8:00-9:00 - breakfast
9:00-11:00 - intensive test prep training
11:00-12:00 - camp games!!
12:00 - pick up

If your kids are on the younger side, sleeping over at the dojo or even just the hardcore camp games might be a bit too much for them, and that is perfectly okay. They are welcome to attend on the 18th for the Aikido practice, and then leave at any point in time from 10:00 onwards. The same goes for coming back to the dojo on the 19th - they can feel free to pop back in around breakfast and then continue with us for however long they'd like. Please just reach out to the admin team to let them know when they will be picked up/dropped off, so that we can make sure the door is unlocked for you.

The cost of the event is $40 and the cap for the camp is 30 participants. In comparision to movie nights, this event will include more game time (such as Snow Leopard, Espio-nage, or Cat's Elimination), the students will gain a lot of hours towards their next belt while having special instruction, and we're even planning on raising the pizza quality!

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the admin team (admin@bigrock-aikikai.com).  We're so excited to see everyone on Oct 18th!!
