BigRock Aikikai is having Holiday Toy Drive for the Magic of Christmas Charity

We hope everyone is doing well and hopefully not frozen just yet. For the holidays, BigRock Aikikai is having a toy drive fundraiser for the Magic of Christmas charity. Every Christmas Eve, volunteers at the Magic of Christmas Warehouse load up Calgary Transit buses, or "reindeer buses", with hundreds of gifts and volunteers dressed as Santa and elves. They then deliver Christmas Spirit to places around the city, spreading joy and cheer to those need. The F&F initiative hope that as a dojo community, we can come together to put smiles on children’s faces that may not be as fortunate as some of us have been this year.

This charity will run from Saturday, December 2nd to Saturday, December 16th. Unfortunately, we can not accept any donations past this point.

We are doing this fundraiser in the form of an angel tree. Meaning, there will be a paper tree on the wall of the dojo's main hallway with many ornaments hung on paper clips whose colours indicate which age group the present is for. Whoever takes an ornament will purchase its item within the given time frame. There will be a drop off donation bin located in the boot room.

If there are no items you would like to donate, we will be continuously updating the tree with new ornaments. We ask that only NEW, UNUSED toys be donated. Popular items include: building blocks, baby toys, books for various ages, hot wheel cars, dolls, cardboard games, playdoh, STEM activity kits, legos, gift cards, fidgets, crafting kits, and paint by number sets.

We thank you on behalf of the BigRock Team, for your generosity and for sharing your smile with those kids who could use an extra one.
